Dear Methodist Hospital family including our physicians and employees:
Words cannot begin to express our feelings of pride and gratitude for all of you who stood together to ensure that our patients continued to receive necessary patient care. By standing together amidst less than ideal circumstances we were able to accomplish our goal of safely evacuating all of our patients, families, neighbors, visitors, employees and physicians.
Because of you, because of your presence in the hospital, because of your strength and steadfast commitment to our patients and each other we successfully maintained healthcare services and more. To all of the staff and physicians who rode out Katrina with us despite not knowing how your homes and loved ones fared during the storm, we applaud you for remaining true to our mission; you put our patients first. You are all heroes!
Because of the experience we shared the bond we have established in circumstances no one could imagine, we have developed an understanding of each other and what we can do together that could not be done otherwise. We are all better for the experience.
We are deeply sorry for your personal losses, especially for anyone who may have lost a loved one as a result of Katrina. You and your families are in our thoughts and our personal prayers.
We know that our current situation seems somewhat bleak as we are unable to predict when Methodist Hospital will re-open. But re-open we will and we will be stronger because of what we accomplished together during Hurricane Katrina.
You have our admiration and sincere thanks for all you have done. Thank you one and all.
